Mediation Services
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution, which allows the parties to decide their own fate. Typically, a third party, the mediator assists the parties in coming to an agreement regarding all issues. The mediator does not make a decision for the parties on the merits of the case but rather assists the parties in coming together with a solution that all the parties can agree to. Disputants may mediate disputes regarding any number of issues such as business contracts, neighborhood or community disagreements, probate, or family matters.
Our Managing Attorney, Angie D. Knight, is a Certified Circuit Court Mediator. She obtained her certification in 2014 through the South Carolina Board of Arbitration and Mediator Certification. A certification in Circuit Court also certifies Ms. Knight to mediate Probate Court cases and, although not certified, she can mediate matters regarding family law as well. Some examples would include:
- Circuit Court: With experience in Business Law and Real Estate, Ms. Knight has a background which allows her to effectively mediate partnership disputes, boundary disputes, and more.
- Probate Court: Ms. Knight has been practicing in the Probate Court since 2006. She understands the sometimes delicate nature of the disputes in Probate and the importance of familial relationships when litigating a matter.
- Family Court: If you are facing a divorce and would like to come to an agreement, instead of “airing your dirty laundry” in Court, she has the knowledge and experience to assist you.
