Criminal Domestic Violence
Criminal domestic violence involves an assault and/or battery of one household member by another, regardless of marital status or relationship status. For first-time offenders, there is the possibility that your case may be resolved through a diversion program. These kinds of programs attempt to address the root causes of domestic violence, which are often substance abuse, anger problems, mental impairments or a combination. Upon successful completion of a diversion program, the charge is dismissed. If you are a repeat offender, you will not be eligible for these programs, which only increases your need for legal representation.
